Fundraising Ideas for Schools
Charity of the year
Nominate Small Steps as your School's Charity of the Year! We have many innovative and exciting fundraising ideas that are easy and fun. You can see the difference you make to Small Steps by visiting us or we may be able to do an Assembly or Talk at your School, which is a great opportunity to motivate the students. We’ll also provide you with lots of resources so your students can understand why our service and their fundraising is so important.
Christmas Jumper Day
For one day in December everyone at your school (yes staff too!) wears their favourite Christmas Jumper for a donation of £1 to Small Steps.
Or you could do a non-uniform or dress up day instead.
We can send you images and copy to put in your school newsletter to parents to explain why supporting Small Steps is so important. Just let us know!
Sports Day
Organise your own charity sports day for Small Steps. There are loads of activities you can do; Egg and spoon race, Wheelbarrow race, Tug of war, Sack race, Space hopper race, Limbo, Obstacle course, Three-legged race, Skipping race, Relay, Beanbag shot put and many more!
We can help you set up a dedicated Fundraising Page to collect donations and provide you with branded Small Steps banners and balloons to decorate your event.
Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Did you know that Fundraising counts as part of your Volunteering section for the DofE Awards? So why not fundraise for Small Steps! From running a bake sale to running a marathon, there are many things you could do. We can provide you with fundraising resources to help you raise as much as you can. Get in touch to find out more.

Spell-a-thon
Keen to merge fundraising with an educational activity? Say hello to a read-a-thon and spell-a-thon! These activities see kids taking part in set challenges related to reading or spelling, including:
- Reading as many books as possible in a set amount of time;
- Finish a whole series of books by one author;
- Allowing others to choose books for them to read;
- Being given a list of words to learn and then spelling them out/using them in sentences.
Let us know if you'd like fundraising resources to support your fundraiser!
